Dr. Mwinyi: We committed to transform education sector

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has stressed the government commitment to strengthen education sector by increasing budget and employ more teachers.

He made the remarks at the State House during annual ceremony to congratulate the Form Four and Form Six students who excelled in the 2022 national exams.

He said that the government will increase funds so that every student who scored better results in the exams can acquire loan to continue with higher education studies.

 “Everything depends on the education sector, we cannot be effective in other sectors if the level of education is low, the eighth phase government has prioritised education,” he said.

He thanked the teachers for the great work they did by providing quality education to their respective students.

“Scoring a first division is a big task, a student should pull-up socks and study hard, I am happy that many students have got first division,” he added.

Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Principal Secretary, Khamis Abdalla, said the success rate for the year 2023 has increased by 0.14 percent compared to the year 2022 adding that all students who set for form six exams and scored good results were given loans to continue with higher studies.

The Education Minister, Lela Muhamed Mussa, congratulated all the students who excelled in their studies and commended Dr. Mwinyi for strengthening the education sector.
